Upcoming Journals

Each year Project MUSE adds a carefully-selected group of high quality journals to our online collections. For information on how journals are chosen, please see the overview of our collection development policy. All new journals are included in the MUSE Premium Collection, and titles are selectively added to other collections. For a variety of reasons, some titles may cease contributing new content to MUSE; all issues currently online do remain available to subscribing libraries.

MUSE Collection Updates

The Project MUSE Basic Undergraduate Collection is the smallest interdisciplinary subset of the Premium Collection and is designed for four and two year colleges and libraries outside the U.S. Effective with the 2008 subscription year, the collection will have a new name, Basic College Collection, which more aptly describes the audience and market for which it is intended. The focus of this collection is not changing.

The MUSE Arts and Humanities Collection and Social Sciences Collection have been reconfigured to sharpen the focus of the collections and better align them with the research needs of subscribing institutions. Complete details on the revised Humanities Collection and Social Sciences Collection are available on http://muse.jhu.edu/about/subscriptions/subscriptions_2008.html.

Title Additions to Current Collections

Standard Collection

The Standard Collection, a subset of the Premium Collection, offers institutions a relatively stable collection of interdisciplinary journals. For 2008, the following titles are confirmed for addition to the Standard Collection; a small number of additional titles will be announced during September.

The Basic Research Collection is a more limited subset of the Premium Collection than the Standard Collection. In 2008, MUSE will enhance the Basic Research Collection with ten current titles.

  • Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East
  • Global Environmental Politics
  • History & Memory
  • Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies

  • Criticism
  • Kennedy Institute of Ethics Journal
  • Modern Drama

Titles Transitioning to Archive-Only

Occasionally, active MUSE journal titles will cease contributing new issues to the MUSE collections as a result of a variety of factors. • Canadian Journal of Sociology
  • Early Music
  • Essays in Criticism
  • Journal of the American Academy of Religion
  • Ka Ho'oilina/The Legacy
  • Latin American Politics and Society

Pacific Science will be available in future via BioOne. Three titles, Latin American Politics and Society, Parliamentary History, and Steinbeck Review, have been acquired by commercial publishers; Project MUSE works only with not-for-profit publishers.
